To become a Smart Island, something that can benefit us all and can even serve to deseasonalize and extend the season, the aim is to improve tourist information services, safety, and environment, in addition to reducing CO2 emissions.
Several applications have already been developed that provide real-time information on beach capacity, parking availability, bus schedules, etc.
In terms of public safety, sensors have been installed in the water to prevent illegal dumping, and an early fire detection system has also been created.
Another of the measures is the reform and pedestrianization of several busy streets on the island, especially commercial ones, so that they become more modern, and pedestrian centered.
The benefit in this case is the reduction of CO2, and the increase of sustainable and healthy alternatives for transportation.
Ibiza is an ideal destination as it maintains tradition and custom, while applying new methods to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.
