Ibiza's perimeter closure lifted and terraces reopened

Good news regarding the COVID19 pandemic! The autonomous government has lifted the perimeter closure of Ibiza and the terraces of the restaurants are open again.

The sunny weather that we can enjoy these days in Ibiza come with news regarding the restrictive measures due to health restrictions. 

From this weekend and until next April 11, Ibiza is downgraded to level 3 emergency, so that, among other things, can reopen the terraces of bars and restaurants on the island.

Stores, meanwhile, increase the permitted capacity up to 50%. Social gatherings may have up to 6 people from a maximum of 2 coexistence nuclei.

The curfew is also extended: normal life will be allowed until 22:00 hours and foreign visitors will only need a negative PCR to enter Ibiza.

Substantial reduction in the incidence of coronavirus

As stated by sources of the Balearic Islands Government, the "epidemiological improvement" is clear: the incidence as of March 11 was only 54 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (at 14 days).

The president of the Consell Insular de Ibiza, Vicent Marí, stressed that the "tough measures have worked" and the situations experienced a few weeks ago can be avoided.

Although this is great news, it should be noted that between March 26 and April 11 (a period that coincides with the Spanish Easter Week) social gatherings will again be limited to a single core of coexistence.

This measure is taken to avoid a new wave of outbreaks at a time when family reunions with a significant number of people not living together are very common, as the situation is now much more under control and the number of positive cases is steadily decreasing.
