{"id":12911,"date":"2023-02-07T17:54:21","date_gmt":"2023-02-07T16:54:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icv.tunuevapagina.com\/the-almond-festival-in-ibiza\/"},"modified":"2025-11-18T10:59:41","modified_gmt":"2025-11-18T09:59:41","slug":"the-almond-festival-in-ibiza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibizacountryvillas.com\/en\/the-almond-festival-in-ibiza\/","title":{"rendered":"The almond festival in Ibiza"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>This Sunday, 12th February,<\/strong> you have the best plan in <strong>Santa In\u00e9s<\/strong> to celebrate the third edition of the <strong>Almond Festival (Festa de l&#8217;Ametlla),<\/strong> part of the <strong>town&#8217;s patron saint festivities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The small village of Santa In\u00e9s is located to the north of San Antonio and is one of <strong>the most charming in Ibiza,<\/strong> with a beautiful white church. Known for its extensive <strong>valleys full of almond trees<\/strong>, in winter they turned into&nbsp;a beautiful pearly hue when the trees begin to blossom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebration of this highly prized nut on the island will be held in the municipal marquee of the village and will consist of <strong>various activities and exhibitors linked to the almond and its gastronomy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 11 am, there will be a &#8216;<strong>Respectful Walk around the Pla de Corona&#8217;<\/strong> (<b>Caminata Respetuosa por el Pla de Corona)<\/b> around the new almond tree plantations. It will consist of a tour around the 286 almond tree plantations carried out in 2018 and the projects started since then in nearby plots: one with 400 almond trees and the last one with 3,000 new almond trees (2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 12pm to 5pm the marquee will held an <strong>exhibition of typical products<\/strong> made with this wonderful fruit,&nbsp; recipes and free gastronomic workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Milk, ricotta and almond biscuits<\/span> with Ioana Manolache (11:45am)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Almond and carob cream with dried figs<\/span> with Marina Ribas Torres (12:30pm)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sugared almonds<\/span> with Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Amengual (1:15pm)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To close this festivity. there will be a popular<strong> paella<\/strong> at 2pm followed by a <strong>concert<\/strong> by the cumbia group <strong>Flor d&#8217;Higuera.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event is part of the project promoted last year by the Consell d&#8217;Ibiza&#8217;s Department of the Rural Environment together with the village&#8217;s residents&#8217; association, <strong>to renew the ageing almond tree plantations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ibizacountryvillas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/almendros-flor-ibiza-2019-2-1024x536.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ibizacountryvillas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/almendros-flor-ibiza-2019-2-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ibizacountryvillas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/almendros-flor-ibiza-2019-2-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ibizacountryvillas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/almendros-flor-ibiza-2019-2-768x402.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ibizacountryvillas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/almendros-flor-ibiza-2019-2.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>INITIATIVES TO MAINTAIN A FRUITFUL ALMOND CROP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Consell d&#8217;Ibiza<\/strong> recognises the importance of <strong>preserving almond cultivation in Ibiza<\/strong>, hence the need to renew the ageing plantations so that the almond blossom in the Pla does not end.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With these new plantings, modern fruit growing practices are being evaluated to improve the commercial viability of almond cultivation, including irrigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to pursuing the<strong> conservation and sustainability of rural landscapes<\/strong> for the production of natural products of great value to the population, it is vitally important to maintain the Pla de Corona because of the <strong>significance it has for Ibizans and its tourist attraction in winter<\/strong>.
